Bubble Skin Care Review: Is the Hype Real for This Gen Z Brand?

As someone who’s navigated the complex world of skincare since early adolescence, thanks to persistent acne, I approach new skincare brands with a healthy dose of skepticism. So, when Bubble Skin Care started dominating my social media feeds, my initial reaction was far from excitement. However, curiosity eventually got the better of me, and here’s my honest take on whether Bubble lives up to the hype.

For those unfamiliar, Bubble is a relatively new skincare brand specifically formulated for young skin. They pride themselves on being science-backed, plant-based, and free of harsh chemicals. Launched in late 2020, Bubble’s mission is to simplify skincare for younger generations, helping them “deal with the small stuff so you can put your best face forward.” This brand aims to resonate with a younger demographic seeking effective yet gentle solutions.

My first encounter with Bubble was, predictably, on social media. It was an Instagram ad, and what caught my eye was the celebrity endorsement – faces from the popular Netflix series, Outer Banks, were promoting the brand. As a fan of the show, I admit, it piqued my interest.

Clicking through the ad led me to Bubble’s Instagram page. The first thing that struck me was the packaging – vibrant, clean, and refreshingly simple. In the often-overcrowded skincare market, this minimalist approach felt unique. Scrolling further, I noted they were a fairly new brand, only a few months old at the time.

Despite the appealing aesthetics, I remained hesitant. I’m not one to impulse-buy skincare based on ads, especially given my sensitive skin history. I exited the page, not fully convinced. However, Bubble’s presence continued to grow. I saw more ads, noticed their products during my Walmart runs, and even started seeing TikTok reviews from people my age raving about them.

My hesitation stemmed from two main factors: I hadn’t looked into the price point, and more importantly, after years of dermatological appointments, I was wary of disrupting a skincare routine that finally worked for me. Introducing new products felt risky.

What ultimately swayed my opinion was learning that Shai Eisenman, the Founder and CEO of Bubble, would be a guest on the Stairway to CEO show. I decided to listen to the interview, hoping to gain deeper insights into the brand’s philosophy and product development. Episode 92: Facing the Skincare Aisle proved to be a turning point. Post-listening, my skepticism significantly decreased, and my interest in trying Bubble’s products skyrocketed.

My journey with skincare has been extensive and often frustrating. Finding a cleanser alone was a challenge. Many popular cleansers resulted in:

  • Allergic reactions (a certain grapefruit-scented drugstore brand comes to mind).
  • Uncomfortably dry and itchy skin (another common drugstore culprit).
  • Excessively oily skin (disappointingly common across various brands).

The podcast episode highlighted Bubble’s thoughtful approach to skincare. I was particularly impressed by their step-by-step product line, designed to create a complete and সহজ routine. Learning about Bubble’s commitment to creating a simplified skincare plan for everyone was reassuring. With a concise line of seven products, and promises of more to come, they offer a full skincare routine at an accessible price point, which is a major plus for young consumers.

Intrigued, I explored their website further and discovered their Skin School tab. This resource is fantastic for skincare novices and veterans alike. They offer a quick quiz to determine your skin type and provide a wealth of information on skincare routines, ingredients, acne, skincare jargon, and common myths. The website also features a dedicated section to learn everything about Bubble, further solidifying their commitment to transparency and education.

At this point, I was almost completely convinced. However, I wanted to see the products in person to make a final decision. A trip to my local Walmart confirmed my growing positive impression. Their Bubble display was thoughtfully organized, categorized by skincare routine steps:

  • Cleansers: Featuring their makeup remover and gel cleanser.
  • Toners: Showcasing their two toner options.
  • Moisturizers: Presenting both balancing and hydrating moisturizers.
  • Masks: Highlighting their detoxifying clay mask.

This step-by-step layout is incredibly user-friendly, particularly for those new to skincare. It demystifies the process and makes navigating the product line straightforward, especially for individuals unfamiliar with Bubble.

I opted for the Wipe Out Makeup Remover, Fresh Start Gel Cleanser, Balancing Toner, Level Up Balancing Moisturizer, and Deep Dive Detoxifying Clay Mask. My hope was that the Balancing Toner and Moisturizer would help address my uneven skin tone and lingering acne scars.

The Gel Cleanser and Balancing Moisturizer immediately impressed me. The cleanser effectively cleaned my skin without leaving it feeling tight or stripped, a common issue I’ve experienced with gel cleansers in the past. The moisturizer was equally impressive – hydrating yet lightweight, it absorbed quickly without leaving a greasy residue. These two products quickly became staples in my routine.

The Balancing Toner was a new addition to my skincare regimen, and I was eager to incorporate it. During my trial, I applied the toner after cleansing with the gel cleanser and allowing my skin to air dry. Using an eco-friendly reusable makeup pad, I gently applied the toner and allowed it to absorb before moisturizing. Initially, the toner’s effects were subtle, but over time, I noticed a visible improvement in my skin’s evenness. Redness and acne scars began to fade, making this a product I intend to keep in my daily routine.

Now, for the products I’m still on the fence about:

Wipe Out Makeup Remover: The concept is brilliant. I’ve always disliked disposable makeup wipes for their drying and irritating effects. While I appreciate the Wipe Out Makeup Remover, I find it requires a significant amount of product to fully remove makeup, especially heavier makeup. It’s effective for minimal makeup days, but not my go-to for a full face.

Deep Dive Detoxifying Clay Mask: This clay mask is unique in texture compared to others I’ve tried. However, I haven’t observed dramatic results, either positive or negative. It’s a decent mask, but as someone who isn’t a dedicated face mask user, it hasn’t become a standout product for me. I’ll continue using it, but it’s not a must-have in my book.

After three months of incorporating Bubble products into my skincare routine, I can confidently say this won’t be my last purchase. I’m particularly impressed with the cleanser, toner, and moisturizer – they are genuinely effective and gentle. Combine that with their attractive packaging and commitment to clean ingredients across their product line, and Bubble offers a compelling skincare option, especially for its target demographic. If you’re looking for affordable, effective, and thoughtfully formulated skincare for young skin, Bubble is definitely worth exploring.
