(Jan. 3, 2025) – Ardent Health (NYSE: ARDT) has announced a significant expansion of its healthcare network through the acquisition of 18 urgent care clinics from Nextcare Urgent Care. This strategic move enhances Ardent’s presence in New Mexico and Oklahoma, reinforcing its commitment to providing patient-centered care in growing urban communities.
“Expanding our urgent care footprint with the addition of NextCare Urgent Care locations is a crucial step in our ongoing mission to build a comprehensive, consumer-focused healthcare ecosystem,” stated Marty Bonick, President and CEO of Ardent Health. “By increasing access to convenient, high-quality urgent care services, we are ensuring patients receive timely care in the most appropriate setting. These new access points also strengthen our network by welcoming new patients and enhancing capacity within our existing clinics and Emergency Departments.”
This acquisition includes six NextCare Urgent Care clinics in New Mexico, which will be integrated into Lovelace Health System, and twelve clinics in Oklahoma, set to become part of Hillcrest HealthCare System. This transaction significantly boosts Ardent Health’s ambulatory care operations within both states. Ardent Health currently operates a substantial network through its subsidiaries, including five hospitals and 25 other care sites in New Mexico, and eight hospitals and 57 care sites in Oklahoma. The acquisition of NextCare Urgent Care clinics further solidifies their regional presence and commitment to accessible healthcare.
This purchase builds upon Ardent Health’s previous expansion, which included the acquisition of nine urgent care centers in East Texas and Topeka, Kansas in 2024. While the specific financial terms of the agreement remain undisclosed, the acquisition of these NextCare Urgent Care facilities underscores Ardent’s dedication to strategic growth and expanding its service offerings to better meet patient needs.
