Scam Alert: Protect Yourself from Fraudulent Calls

We have received reports of scammers targeting pet owners who have unfortunately lost their beloved animals. These individuals are falsely representing themselves as Animal Care & Control (ACC) staff. They claim your pet is at our shelter and urgently requires medical treatment, then demand immediate payment over the phone, requesting credit card or electronic payment details.

Key Information to Remember:

  • Animal Care & Control will never ask for any form of payment over the phone.
  • To reclaim your lost pet, you must visit our shelter in person.

If you receive a suspicious call like this, hang up immediately! Then, please contact 311 or (704) 336-7600 to reach the official ACC Call Center. Our team can connect you with a supervisor who can provide further assistance and verify any information you may need.
