Aston Martin DBS Car: A Supercar Icon with Bond Legacy

Reviving a celebrated name from Aston Martin’s illustrious past, the DBS emerged as the successor to the Vanquish S in 2008, establishing itself as the brand’s premier supercar. Its allure was previewed to the world with a captivating appearance in Casino Royale (2006), marking Daniel Craig’s debut as James Bond. The Aston Martin Dbs Car also graced the silver screen again in the opening sequence of Quantum of Solace (2008), further cementing its iconic status.

The design of the Aston Martin DBS car was a clear evolution of the DB9, enhanced with distinctive carbon-fiber elements including a front splitter and rear diffuser. Advanced manufacturing techniques were employed in crafting its aluminium and composite body. At the heart of the DBS was an upgraded 6.0-liter, 48-valve V12 engine, shared with other Aston Martin models, initially delivering 510bhp. This power propelled the manual transmission version to a top speed of 190mph (305km/h), with acceleration from 0 to 60mph (96km/h) achieved in a mere 4.3 seconds.

The engine’s positioning as far back as possible in the chassis, combined with a rear transaxle integrating the transmission and final drive, resulted in a perfect 50/50 front/rear weight distribution. This engineering feat significantly enhanced the Aston Martin DBS car’s handling, roadholding, and overall controllability. Transmission options included a six-speed manual or a six-speed ‘Touchtronic 2’ paddle-shift semi-automatic. The striking 20″ wheels were widely admired as some of the most aesthetically pleasing ever fitted to an Aston Martin. Inside, the DBS offered the quintessential Aston Martin experience: a hand-crafted interior exuding elegance, luxury, and exceptional comfort.
