Finding the Right Fit for You at Greenville Animal Care
We understand that choosing the right pet is a significant decision. While we believe there’s a perfect person for every animal, we also recognize that not every animal is the perfect fit for every person or household. That’s why Greenville Animal Care offers an “Adoption Audition” period. If, within 30 days of adopting a pet, you find that it’s not the right match for your lifestyle or family, you can return the pet with our satisfaction guarantee. Our priority is the well-being of both our animals and our adopters, and this policy ensures a supportive and responsible adoption process.
Your Step-by-Step Guide to the Greenville Animal Care Adoption Process
Adopting a pet from Greenville Animal Care is a straightforward and supportive process. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you find your new furry friend:
Step 1: Browse Our Available Pets
Start your adoption journey by exploring the dogs and cats currently available at Greenville Animal Care. You can easily view our adoptable pets by clicking on the dog and cat photos on our website. Utilize the filter options to refine your search based on breed, age, size, and other preferences. Keep in mind that some of our pets are living in loving foster homes and are also available for adoption! These pets are often highlighted online, offering you an even wider selection.
Step 2: Submit An Adoption Inquiry
Once you’ve found a pet that captures your interest and seems like a potential match, click on their image to learn more. If you feel a connection and would like to meet them, you have two options. You can click the “Apply for Adoption” button to submit an online inquiry, or you can visit us during our adoption walk-in hours, Monday through Saturday, from 12 pm to 5 pm. Submitting an inquiry is a great way to express your interest and ask any initial questions you may have. While it doesn’t place a hold on the pet, it does alert our adoption team that you’re interested and may want to schedule a visit.
Step 3: Meet The Pet
Meeting your potential new pet is a crucial step in the adoption process. If the pet you are interested in is at our shelter, we encourage you to visit as soon as you can during our walk-in hours. If you’ve submitted an online inquiry, our team will aim to respond within 1-2 days to discuss next steps. For pets in foster care, we’ll connect you directly with their foster family, who will typically respond within 1-2 days to arrange a meeting time. Foster families offer valuable insights into the pet’s personality and needs, helping you make an informed decision.
Step 4: Determine If It’s A Good Match
During your meeting, whether at the shelter or in a foster home, our adoption counselors and foster families will share everything they know about the pet’s temperament, history, and any specific needs. They are there to help you determine if the pet will be a good fit for your lifestyle, existing pets, and family dynamics. It’s perfectly okay if it doesn’t feel like the right match – finding the perfect companion is about compatibility. If it’s not the right fit, don’t worry! Greenville Animal Care is dedicated to helping you find your ideal pet, and we always have many wonderful dogs and cats waiting for their forever homes.
Step 5: Finalize The Adoption
The most exciting step! Once you’ve found your perfect match, it’s time to finalize the adoption. In most cases, you can take your new pet home the very same day! However, some pets may need to stay at the shelter for a few additional days for final preparations. Our adoption team will clearly communicate when your new companion will be ready to go home with you. Greenville Animal Care does have a small adoption fee, which helps us continue to care for and support other animals in need. The standard adoption fee is $35, but we often have adoption specials where fees are waived, so be sure to ask about current promotions! For your convenience, we also have a small retail store on-site where you can purchase essential pet supplies at the time of adoption, making it a one-stop shop for welcoming your new pet. You can also make a donation to further support our mission of helping pets find loving homes.
Step 6: Tell Your Circle Of Friends And Family
If you had a positive adoption experience with Greenville Animal Care, please spread the word! Share your story with friends and family and encourage them to consider adoption when they are looking for a pet. Greenville County Animal Care cares for thousands of dogs and cats each year and relies on community support to help them all find homes as amazing as yours!
