Honda Named U.S. News & World Report Best Car Brand for Fourth Straight Year

Honda has been honored as the “Best Car Brand” for 2025 by U.S. News & World Report, marking an impressive fourth consecutive year for this prestigious accolade. This recognition highlights Honda’s consistent excellence across key automotive attributes, including performance, interior quality, safety, and reliability, specifically within its passenger car lineup. Standout models contributing to this achievement include the Civic, Civic hybrid, Civic Type R, Civic Si, Accord, and Accord hybrid.

The eleventh-generation Civic, a multi-award-winning vehicle, serves as a crucial entry point to the Honda brand. It stands as America’s most popular car among Gen Z, first-time car buyers, and multicultural demographics. Notably, the Honda Civic has held the title of America’s best-selling compact car since 1973. Similarly, the Accord, another award-winning model in its eleventh generation, is a significant driver of brand loyalty for Honda. It is recognized as America’s leading midsize vehicle among Millennials, Gen Z, first-time buyers, and multicultural consumers.

Both the Civic and Accord feature hybrid-electric variants, the Civic hybrid and Accord hybrid, which are central to Honda’s broader electrification strategy. These hybrid trims, powered by Honda’s fourth-generation two-motor hybrid-electric powertrain, are gaining significant traction in the market. Hybrid models now account for over 50% of Accord sales, and the new 2025 Civic hybrid models are projected to represent approximately 40% of Civic sales. Currently, over 25% of Honda brand’s total sales are hybrid-electric vehicles.

U.S. News & World Report’s Best Vehicle Brands Awards are highly regarded within the automotive industry. This year, the evaluation encompassed 38 brands, recognizing overall excellence across four critical segments: cars, SUVs, trucks, and luxury vehicles. The awards aim to identify automakers that excel in delivering desirable brand attributes that resonate with car buyers. The winners are determined by demonstrating the best overall combination of performance, interior quality, safety, and reliability within their respective categories.

The methodology for determining the award winners is based on averaging the overall scores of each brand’s products within each award class, according to U.S. News Best Cars. These vehicle scores are drawn from the U.S. News Best Cars rankings, which consider various data points such as safety ratings, reliability data, and expert opinions from automotive journalists. The brand achieving the highest average score is declared the category winner.

Honda’s commitment to producing vehicles in America spans over 40 years, with 18 major manufacturing facilities currently operating in North America. In 2023, over 99% of Honda vehicles sold in the U.S. were produced in North America, with approximately two-thirds being made in America, utilizing both domestic and globally sourced parts. Honda’s diverse lineup includes popular models like the HR-V, CR-V, Passport, Prologue, and Pilot SUVs, the Ridgeline pickup, and the Odyssey minivan, alongside the award-winning Civic and Accord. Honda’s electrified vehicle range, which includes the all-electric Prologue SUV, hybrid-electric Accord, CR-V, and Civic, and the Fuel-Cell-electric CR-V e:FCEV, represents more than a quarter of its total sales in 2024.
