Volvo Cars is ushering in the new model year with significant technological advancements, set to redefine the driving experience. Several popular Volvo models including the XC40, EX40, EC40, S60, V60, V60 Cross Country, V90, and V90 Cross Country will receive two major upgrades: the sophisticated Volvo Car UX and a performance-enhancing hardware update for the infotainment system.
The Volvo Car UX, already acclaimed in the EX30 and EX90, is engineered to provide a safer and more enjoyable interaction with the vehicle’s central infotainment screen. This next-generation user interface boasts a more focused and personalized design compared to its predecessor, seamlessly integrating a range of built-in Google services. As previously announced, this intuitive Volvo Car UX will be available to millions of Volvo Cars equipped with Google built-in, with an estimated 2.5 million Volvo customers globally expected to receive this upgrade via an over-the-air software update starting in 2025 for models built as early as 2020.
Powering this enhanced infotainment system is the Snapdragon® Cockpit Platform from Qualcomm Technologies. This hardware upgrade marks a significant leap in performance, making the system over twice as fast as the previous generation, with a graphics processing capability that is up to ten times quicker. Customers of the new XC90 SUV will also benefit from this impressive upgrade.
Furthermore, for Volvo owners in Europe, the EX30, EX40, and EC40 models will now include the Plug & Charge service. This feature streamlines public charging by automating authentication and payment processes at compatible charging stations, enhancing convenience for electric Volvo car drivers.
Volvo Cars promises to unveil more exciting updates for the 2026 model year soon. The availability and launch timing of these 2026 model year versions will vary depending on the specific market.
