Tuberculosis (TB) Screenings: Early Detection for Community Health
Tuberculosis (TB) screenings are crucial for identifying individuals who may be at risk or have symptoms of TB. The Chesapeake Health Department provides comprehensive TB screening services by appointment.
TB Screening Options:
We offer two types of TB tests:
- Tuberculin Skin Test (TST) or Purified Protein Derivative (PPD): This skin test requires a follow-up visit within 48-72 hours after placement to read the results.
- Quantiferon TB Gold Blood Test: This blood test is an alternative to the skin test. Results may take 5-7 business days. Fees may apply for the Quantiferon TB Gold test.
Our public health nurses will help you determine the most appropriate TB testing method for your situation.
