Kinder Care at Das Rec is dedicated to providing a safe and enjoyable environment for your children while you utilize our facilities. To ensure a smooth and positive experience for everyone, we have established the following policies. We kindly ask all parents and guardians to review and adhere to these guidelines.
General Policies for Kinder Care
To help us maintain a high-quality service and ensure the safety and well-being of all children in our care, please take note of the following general policies:
- Reservations Required: To guarantee availability, reservations are mandatory for Kinder Care services.
- Age and Time Limits: We welcome children aged 6 months to 10 years. Each child can visit Kinder Care once per day, with a maximum session length of two hours. Please be aware that the two-hour limit is strictly enforced to accommodate all members.
- Parent/Guardian Drop-off and Pick-up: Only parents or legal guardians are authorized to drop off and pick up children. For security reasons, the same parent or guardian who signs the child in must also sign them out.
- Membership Requirement: Due to space limitations and to prioritize our members, Kinder Care services are exclusively for Das Rec members. Unfortunately, this service is not available to day pass holders at this time.
- Parental Presence On-Premises: For the safety and security of your child, parents must remain within the Das Rec premises at all times while their child is in Kinder Care. Leaving Das Rec property while your child is in Kinder Care is not permitted and will result in a 30-day suspension of Kinder Care privileges. In serious cases, the New Braunfels Police Department may be notified.
- No Outside Food or Drinks: To prevent allergic reactions and maintain cleanliness, outside food, drinks, and snacks are not allowed in Kinder Care.
- Hygiene and Diaper Changes: Please ensure your child has used the restroom or has a fresh diaper before checking them into Kinder Care. While our staff will notify parents if a diaper change or restroom assistance is needed, staff members are not permitted to change diapers.
- Comfort Items: Pacifiers and labeled comfort items like blankets are allowed to help your child feel more at ease.
- Medication Policy: For safety reasons, Kinder Care staff cannot administer or store any medication.
- Toys from Home: To minimize loss or damage and to ensure a fair play environment, toys and electronic devices from home are not permitted in Kinder Care. Das Rec and Kinder Care are not responsible for any lost, broken, or stolen items.
- Appropriate Attire: Children participating in Kinder Care must be fully clothed. If your child has been swimming, they must be dry and wearing a swimsuit cover. Shoes are required for all children who are walking.
- Sick Child Policy Adherence: We prioritize the health and well-being of all children. Parents are expected to strictly adhere to our Sick Child Policy to prevent the spread of illness.
Kinder Care Discipline Approach
We believe in positive guidance and creating a supportive atmosphere. Our discipline policy focuses on:
- Redirection: In most instances, our trained staff will use redirection techniques to guide children towards alternative activities and resolve minor behavioral issues.
- Case-by-Case Assessment: Kinder Care staff will evaluate behavioral concerns on an individual basis to determine the most appropriate response.
- Time Away: In certain situations, a brief period of time away from the group may be used to help a child regain composure and address behavioral issues.
Kinder Care Sick Child Policy – Keeping Everyone Healthy
To protect the health of all children and staff, we have a clear Sick Child Policy. Children exhibiting the following symptoms will not be allowed in Kinder Care:
- Fever: A temperature of 100 degrees Fahrenheit (or higher) within the preceding 24 hours.
- Vomiting: Vomiting within the past 24 hours.
- Diarrhea: Watery stool within the past 24 hours.
- Unidentified Rash: Any rash that is not related to diapering.
- Sore Throat/Swollen Glands: Sore throat and/or swollen glands that cause difficulty swallowing.
- Persistent Cough: A constant or disruptive cough.
- Symptoms of Communicable Disease: Symptoms suggestive of a contagious illness, such as colored nasal discharge, red eyes, sore throat, headache, abdominal pain, fever, and/or skin spots, bumps, or patches.
Should staff observe any of these symptoms during your child’s visit, we will contact you and ask that you pick up your child promptly.
Procare Communication – Staying in Touch
To ensure open communication and address any needs that may arise, parents may be contacted through the Procare system for the following reasons:
- Diaper Change Needed: If your child requires a diaper change.
- Prolonged Crying: If a child cries inconsolably for more than ten minutes.
- Non-Compliance: If a child is consistently not following staff instructions.
- Time Limit Exceeded: If a child’s stay has gone beyond the two-hour time limit.
- Child Appears Unwell: If a child seems to be feeling sick.
- Parental Support Needed: If staff believes a child needs parental comfort or attention.
- Safety Concerns: If staff perceives a child to be a potential danger to themselves or others.
We appreciate your cooperation in helping us maintain a safe, healthy, and enjoyable Kinder Care environment for all children at Das Rec.
